Glenngary/Scottish Cap
TSA-554
This pattern is for two styles of Scottish Caps. The first is the typical
GLENGARRY with the shaped crown and the tapered sides. The back of the cap
has a V-style opening. The second style is the SCOTTISH CAP or
Smoking Cap shown in Peterson’s Magazine. This has a similar shaped crown but
the body of the cap is taller and more tapered and the back is closed.

Fabric Requirements:
¼ yd fashion fabric: wool, linen, twill or other heavy weight cotton, satin,
silk or taffeta. *
¼ yd buckram (if unable to find buckram, paste board will work)
¼ yd lining fabric
2 yds 1” wide grosgrain or satin ribbon
Trims such as feathers or 1 foot of 2” wide ribbon for simple cockade
* If your fabric is very light-weight or has no body, purchase ¼ yd of medium
weight iron on interfacing. Backing your fabric with this interfacing will help
give it substance and support.
Sizing:
We have sized the Glengarry pattern in three general sizes:
Small: Suitable for children at approx 19 – 20”
Medium: suitable for most women at 22”
Large; for most men at 24 – 25 inches.
The Glengarry has an open back which does give some leeway in sizing.
The Scottish Cap is sized in a Small approx 20 ½” and a Large approx 22 ½”
